Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to know how to read music to sing with you?
You do not need to know how to read music to sing with us. We'll give you a CD (or a cassette tape if you prefer) that has one of our section leaders singing your part -Tenor, Lead, Baritone, or Bass. All you have to do is listen and learn!
I'm not a professional singer - can I still sing with you?
We're not professional singers, either! We are teachers, nurses, mothers...the girl next door! As long as you can carry a tune and hold your own part while others are singing in harmony with you, you can sing with us!
What is Sweet Adelines International?
Sweet Adelines International is an organization of nearly 30,000 women who sing four-part a cappella barbershop harmony in a local chapter chorus and/or quartet. When you become a member of The Maple Mountain Chorus, you also become a member of Sweet Adelines International. As a member, you can take part in regional chorus / quartet competitions, attend the Sweet Adelines International convention to hear the best choruses and quartets in the world compete for the championship, and can attend many different workshops and education symposiums to learn music, vocal production, choreography and more!

How do I become a member of The Maple Mountain Chorus and Sweet Adelines?
The first step is to attend a rehearsal. When you come, we'll give you all the information you need on becoming a member. At the rehearsal, you can sing with us, meet everybody, laugh and have a great time. If you decide you like it, just come to the next rehearsal!
